The Monkees experienced a surge on Spotify following the death of member Davy Jones earlier this week.

The music streaming service saw a 3,000% increase in Monkees hits being played between February 28-29, immediately following the confirmation of the singer’s death.

Meanwhile, bandmate Peter Tork has revealed that the band “were looking forward to more tours” before Jones’s passing.

Michael Nesmith took to his official Facebook page to thank fans for their condolences and admitted that he has “fond memories” of Jones.

Micky Dolenz said that the star was like a “brother” to him and he was in “total shock” when his wife told him the news.
